NIAGARA FALLS AIR RESERVE STATION, N.Y. - The last of Niagara's C-130 H3 model aircraft departs Niagara Falls for the final time July 11.  As part of  the 2005 Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) commission, the 914th Airlift Wing exchanged its eight C-130H3 aircraft for 12 C-130 H2 models.  In addition, the 107th Airlift Wing of the New York Air National Guard has formed an association with the Air Force Reserve at Niagara. NIAGARA FALLS AIR RESERVE STATION, N.Y. - Air Force Reserve personnel from the 914th Airlift Wing were given the opportunity to raise community awareness of the Reserve program and to express their appreciation to the thousands of local supporters of the military via a free concert venue at Artpark in Lewiston, NY.  The rock band Kansas was the featured act and before the concert 914th Airlift Wing commander Col. Reinhard Schmidt spoke to a crowd of more than 15,000 to voice his appreciation for the outstanding support given to the air base by the Western New York community.  Staff Sgt. Joel Laureno, 914 AW line recruiter, sang the National Anthem while the Niagara Falls Base Honor Guard presented the colors. NIAGARA FALLS AIR RESERVE STATION, N.Y. - The new 25,000 sq. ft. fire rescue station at the Niagara air base is scheduled to open later this month and will provide fire and rescue personnel with a modernized facility and state-of-the-art equipment to better serve the needs of the base and local community. NIAGARA FALLS AIR RESERVE STATION, NY --  Tech. Sgt. Christopher McArdle, a 914th Airlift Wing firefighter, has received the 2008 Tuskegee Airman Inc. Award. The Tuskegee Airman Inc. Award is awarded to Airmen who help further the goal of the Air Force through effective training, mentoring, motivation and community outreach.
