NIAGARA FALLS AIR RESERVE STATION, NY- 914th AW Commander Col. James Roberts (center) speaks to a crowd during  the C-119 dedication ceremony held here recently while 440th AW Commander Col. Merle Hart (right) and Senior Master Sergeant Flores of the 440th AW (left) look on.  The C-119 was acquired from the 440th AW stationed at General Mitchell Air Reserve Station, Wisconsin.  Due to the Base Realignment & Closure Commissions decision to close Gen. Mitchell ARS all assets are being distributed and utilized throughout the Air Force.  The C-119 was dismantled at Gen Mitchell ARS, transported by tractor trailer to Niagara Falls ARS where it was reassembled and dedicated as a reminder to the 914th AW historical linage. NIAGARA FALLS, ONTARIO, CANADA-Members from the Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station Fire Department compete in this annual event held this year in CANADA.  Members on the team are: (Left to Right) Firefighter Chad Larson, Lt. John McDonald, Lt. Mike Cameron,  Lt. Joe Foucha, and Lt. Ricardo Bush.  The four day event brought firefighters from all over Canada including the only American team from the Air Base.  The competition centered around five events; the Tower Climb, Hose Hoist, Forcible Entry, Hose Advance and Victim Rescue all of which replicate actual firefighting scenarios. Sections of a C-119 “Flying Boxcar,” have started arriving August 7 at Niagara ARS. Niagara Falls had requested a C-119 Flying Boxcar several years ago for static display. The C-119 is being brought to Niagara from the 440th AW in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The 440th AW is one of many units included in the base closing list by BRAC. The C-119  is a memorial to the 440th crew lost flying over the Bermuda Triangle in 1965 and will be used to display the 914th aircraft history at Niagara.
