NIAGARA FALLS AIR RESERVE STATION, N.Y. --

Leadership personnel from the 914th Air Refueling Wing participated in a two-day strategic training and leadership course hosted by Dale Carnegie Training. The course was conducted as a means to give those in leadership positions the opportunity to assess where the wing is currently and determine the direction in which we’re heading and how to effectively communicate the mission to the Airmen of the Wing.

This training comes at a pivotal time for the 914th. In light of the recent mission change and the influx of new leadership personnel, this training is providing leadership the chance to collaborate and plan for the success of the Wing.

“Basically, there’s been a lot of change in leadership recently as well as the mission change,” said Senior Master Sgt. Victorine Hogenmiller, Logistics Plans Superintendent, Commander Support Staff, 914th Air Refueling Wing. “We needed to come together and take a look at our mission and vision…if it’s still where we want to go in the future and that it’s being communicated correctly down to every level.”

The course focused largely on recognizing and maximizing the talent and skills of 914th Reserve Citizen Airmen, optimizing communication, planning and organizing to enhance mission effectiveness and success, and inspiring and motivating individuals and teams in the execution of the mission.

Col. Mark Larson, 914th Air Refueling Wing Commander, believes that the course will prove to be tremendously beneficial for wing leadership.

“The end state is to come together on a consensus as to what our vision is for the next two years and to develop the skills to adequately communicate that to all the Airmen in the wing so everyone understands how their job impacts the mission, our vision, and the key objectives we’re going to set going forward,” said Col. Larson.

The training took place here at Niagara, Thursday, November 30th through Friday, December 1st.
