NIAGARA FALLS AIR RESERVE STATION, N.Y. -- Staff Sgt. Linda Heizyk, a combat crew communicator of the 914th Operations Support Squadron, is awarded Niagara Military Affairs Council's Merrell Lane Memorial Scholarship for aviation at the Heritage Center at Niagara Falls ARS, N.Y., Wednesday, Jun. 26, 2019.
She is completing her Bachelor's Degree in aviation and is enrolled in a private pilot licensing program. The scholarship was created in honor of Merrell Lane, co-founder and first chairman of NIMAC, with the purpose of addressing pilot shortages in the Air Force as well as promoting aviation related careers.
NIMAC board member Kurt Hammer presented the scholarship to Heizyk assisted by 914th Air Refueling Wing Vice Commander Col. Erik Aufderheide and NIMAC Chairman John Cooper.
