Sather Air Base, Iraq - Reserve Master Sgt Luann Van Peursem, 914th Logistic Readiness Squadron, receives the Air Force Commendation Medal with Valor from Brig Gen Burton Field, 332nd Air Expeditionary Wing on July 12. MSgt Van Peursem rendered first aid and initial medical care for two 914th LRS members, TSgts Steve Paddison and Tim Juliano who were critically injured by shrapnel when a rocket exploded outside their building in Baghdad recently. TSgt Paddison is recovering at Walter Reed and TSgt Juliano is at McGuire Veterans Hospital in Richmond, Virginia and is expected to return to home soon. (Photo by: TSgt Russell Wicke)

In honor of Women's History Month Capt. Nikki Slaughter-Smith, 328th Combat and Operational Stress Control, Army Reserve, was recognized along with several other prominent women during a special ceremony at the Buffalo N.Y. Veterans Court March 28, 2017. She was recognized for her outstanding leadership and dedicated service to our country and our courts as a part-time Soldier, full-time Citizen Airman social worker with the 914th Airlift Wing, Air Force Reserve, and volunteer Veterans Court Mentor.
