Honor Guard

The Niagara Falls Honor Guard is a dedicated team of highly motivated military members who uphold the highest standards of appearance, conduct, and professionalism. Their primary mission is to provide military funeral honors for fallen service members, as well as represent the U.S. Air Force at official ceremonies and events across Western New York.

Honor guard members are volunteers carefully selected for their physical ability, motivation, and aptitude for ceremonial duty. Only those who maintain the highest standards are considered.

Military Honors Request

To request military funeral honors:

  1. Complete the Military Funeral Honors Request Form using details from the service member's DD Form 214 discharge paperwork.
  2. Follow all instructions on the form to ensure accuracy.
  3. Review eligibility for honors in AFI 34-501, Chapter 7.

Processing Requests:

  • The McGuire AFB Honor Guard oversees funeral honors requests for New York and will assign Niagara Falls Honor Guard as needed. Contact McGuire AFB Honor Guard at (609) 562-6141 or fax (609) 562-6346.
  • To contact Niagara Falls Honor Guard directly, call (716) 236-3182.

Important: Call the Honor Guard Staff to confirm receipt of your request form.

Color Guard Request

The Niagara Falls Honor Guard provides color guard services for events across Western New York.

To request support:

  1. Complete the Color Guard Request Form.
  2. Save the form with a unique name (e.g., "Warner Retirement Ceremony" or "Buffalo Bills Football Game").
  3. Email the form to 914arw.honorguard@us.af.mil with the subject line: "Request for Honor Guard Support".

Details Matter:
Provide accurate and complete event details, including location, address, cell phone information, and a description of the event. For events outside the immediate Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station area, thorough details are critical.

You will receive a confirmation by email or phone once your request is processed.

Event Prioritization

Honor Guard support is prioritized as follows:

  1. Military funeral honors
  2. Official military functions (by request date)
  3. All other requests (by request date)

Cancellations:
Support for events may be canceled due to manpower or workload constraints. If cancellation is necessary, we will provide as much advance notice as possible.
