The 914th Air Refueling Wing’s Integrated Primary Prevention Workforce team focuses on non-clinical prevention of suicide, sexual violence, domestic & child abuse, substance abuse, and workplace violence with the goal of stopping these harmful behaviors before they occur. This includes developing strategies and implementing research-informed primary prevention activities to increase protective factors and reduce risk factors for harm and abuse.
A Secretary of Defense priority initiative established this full time, dedicated prevention workforce capable of effectively implementing prevention programs and activities to ensure faster primary prevention results.
According to Nikki Slaughter-Smith, Integrated Prevention Chief, to increase efficiency in the installation prevention system, the team will use climate assessments and other activities to help commanders identify risk factors, protective factors, and put a plan in place to support them and their squadrons.
In addition, the Community Action Network, comprised of the Wing helping agencies, will collectively work to assist with any needs through a collaborative effort as well as updating the Wing Comprehensive Integrated Prevention Plan.
