The 17th annual Traffic Safety Program kicks off here May 14, 2013.

With the coming of spring, traffic accidents involving young people tend to increase. In order to counteract this trend, Niagara Falls ARS hosts the Traffic Safety Program which strives to educate high school students about the dangers of driving under the influence and distracted driving.

In recent years, texting and driving has become more of a problem. TSP includes a number of activities and demonstrations, one of which is a controlled live low speed collision. This is set up to show young people who are of driving age the effects and implications of a collision. Even at low speeds, the impact of a vehicular collision could mean serious injury or even death to drivers and passengers alike.
