Base volunteers participate in United Way Day of Caring

NIAGARA FALLS AIR RESERVE STATION, N.Y. --  Several volunteers from the 914th and 107th Airlift Wings helped fill backpacks with donated school supply items August 15 at First Niagara Arena, Buffalo N.Y.

As just one part of the 20th annual United Way Day of Caring, over 100 volunteers from across western New York gathered in the arena to fill 4,000 backpacks which will be given to needy local area school children.

Over 2,600 of these filled backpacks will go directly to Buffalo Public School ninth graders.

Volunteers wrote personalized notes of encouragement that were placed inside each backpack.
