Col. Allan Swartzmiller, 914th Airlift Wing commander, welcomed to Niagara members of the 143rd Airlift Wing, Rhode Island Air National Guard, Wednesday, April 25, 2012.

Personnel from Team Niagara, 914th (Air Force Reserve) and 107th (NY Air National Guard) Airlift Wings, met with functional area representative counterparts of the 143rd to discuss the results of the recently completed Operational Readiness Exercise involving all three units and the way forward to a successful Operational Readiness Inspection scheduled later this year.

"The devil is in the details," said Col. Swartzmiller.  "We have a little bit of work ahead of us, but we have the tools to get the job done."

One of the keys to the successful partnership between Team Niagara and Rhode Island has been the constant contact that all three units have maintained with each other throughout the whole exercise and inspection process.

The units have alternated weekly base site visits to help maintain a constant state of readiness and to work through any challenges that may arise in preparation for the ORI.

"We've set the bar high for ourselves and these meetings will get us to the finish line," said Col. Arthur Floru, 143 AW commander.
