Guard and Reserve join forces to run new processing line

NIAGARA FALLS AIR RESERVE STATION, N.Y. --  Nearly 500 personnel from the 914th Airlift Wing, Air Force Reserve, and 107th Airlift Wing, Air National Guard, participated in a two day position the force exercise here January 21-22, 2012.

This exercise is the first stage in preparation for an upcoming joint Guard and Reserve Operational Readiness Inspection scheduled for later this year.

Personnel from both units have been training together for the past several months in anticipation of deploying as "Team Niagara" to a combat readiness training facility.

In addition to Airmen from both wings flying out together, for the first time ever, personnel functions from both units have merged together to form a single personnel deployment function.  This joint PDF processing line is being run out of Niagara's new Mobility Processing Center, the old 914th supply building, which has undergone extensive renovations.

Although the individual processes of the Guard and Reserve might not always be the same, the men and women in the PDF rose to the challenge of creating this successful joint operation.

"We're both used to doing things a little different," said Senior Master Sgt. Jeannie Morrison, 914th Force Support Squadron, and Team Niagara PDF Day Shift NCOIC. "We've taken the better of both and making a new process, combining products and having reps from both units processing the line. It's been seamless."

The overall success of the new joint personnel processing line is evident in the shared work ethic, common goal, and also praise from each unit.

"We've really come together as a team," said Master Sgt. Kevin Huff, 107th Force Support Squadron, Team Niagara PDF Night Shift NCOIC.  "Overall, everyone has been receptive to new ideas which increases the value of those ideas.  We work well together."
