Operation Toy Drop

Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station, NY. --  The 914th Airlift Wing participated in the annual Operation Toy Drop December 10 over Fort Bragg, NC. 914th aircrew members gave a lift to Fort Bragg based paratroopers - a 3,500 foot lift!

The paratroopers loaded onto the Niagara C-130 and when the signal was given, hooked up the static lines of their parachutes, and then jumped out the back of the aircraft where they descended to the grounds of Pope Airfield, NC.

Operation Toy Drop is a week-long, philanthropic project where both American and Foreign paratroopers stationed at Fort Bragg's individually contribute new, unwrapped toys to be distributed to local children's homes and social service agencies.

The drop is actually a daytime, non-tactical airborne operation supervised by foreign military jumpmasters - a rare treat for participating U.S. Soldiers who relish the opportunity to earn a foreign nation's "jump wings".

Started in 1998, 2011 marks the first year Operation Toy Drop goes national. Operation Toy Drop is now the largest multi-national airborne operation in the world.
