Civic leaders from Dobbins Air Reserve Base

Civic leaders from Dobbins Air Reserve Base, Ga. visited the Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station October 13-14.

Upon landing the civic leaders were welcomed and briefed by 914th Airlift Wing Commander Col. Allan L. Swartzmiller , given a windshield tour of the installation and treated to Buffalo delicacies such as chicken wings, blue cheese, beef on weck and Western New York style pizza prepared by the staff at the Falcon Club.

The visitors concluded the first day with a sightseeing tour of Niagara Falls and a ride the Maid of the Mist

On the second day of the visit the civic leaders visited the Buffalo Military Entrance Processing Station where the Commander of the 94th Airlift Wing Col. Timothy E. Tarchick, the former 914th Operations Group Commander from June 1999-September 2001, Dobbins Air Force Base, Ga. gave the Oath of Enlistment to future servicemembers.

Before heading back to Georgia, the group was given presentations by the Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station Fire Department and the 914th Explosive Ordinance Disposal who showed off their robot and bomb protection suit.

Civic leader tours are designed to increase public awareness and understanding of current military capabilities utilizing global mobility, air superiority and precision strike capabilities of the U. S. Air Force. Guests receive a first-hand look at various aspects of the active duty and Reserve Air Force mission as they meet many of the people whose efforts help ensure our nation's continued military strength.
