ORI prep proves positive to unit personnel

NIAGARA FALLS AIR RESERVE STATION N.Y. --  As they boarded a plane from the Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station to a Combat Readiness Training Center, both 914th and 107th leadership expressed optimistic views about working with each other on an Operational Readiness Exercise.

"We are going to a different environment and operating out of an unfamiliar location," said 914th Mission Support Group Commander Col. Timothy McCoy. "This is going to give us the opportunity to test a little bit of deployment capability...I think it's going to work out real well; the 107th has some very talented people."

McCoy's counterpart in the Air National Guard, Col. Timothy Vaughn , 107th Mission Support Group Commander said, "I think Team Niagara is looking forward to integrating fully at every chance we get; positive things will come from it."

Due to both wing's leadership working together on this exercise, The Colonels agreed (that the association as well as the camaraderie of both the Guard and Reserve units will be strengthened.

The atmosphere of anticipated solidarity was not limited to just the officer corps.

"It's really interesting to see how we in the Guard and Reserve mesh and interact with each other," said 914th Airlift Wing Command Chief Scott Scharlau. "It's important to get the connections and networking with each other to a point where we can be more productive with each other."

"I think anything we do together will solidify the association," said 107th Airlift Wing Command Chief David Wohlben. "I've been here for 26 years at Niagara Falls, and to be quite honest I've gotten to know more people in the 914th in the past two years than in the 24 years prior to that; so the association is going well."
