Senior Master Sgt. Jeannie Morrison has spent her military career in different sections and careers right here at Niagara.

"I've been in the military since May 2, 1986, a little over 24 years. I have spent my entire military career here at Niagara as a Civilian, Reservist and an Air Reserve Technician.

However, before she enlisted into the Air Force, she worked for the service as a civilian.

"I chose to go into the Air Force because I had been working here as a civilian since 1974 and the Director of Operations at the time approached me and offered me an ART job as the Ops Resource Management Superintendent."

As a wife and mother, Sergeant Morrison took up the challenge of serving in the Armed Forces and enlisted.

"I had just had my son and I knew going to Basic and Tech School would be difficult but I talked to my husband and he was very supportive."

More than 20 years after the completion of her first Air Force technical school Sergeant Morrison broadened her skills as a non-commissioned officer by branching out into different areas of expertise.

"I've held three Air Force Specialty Codes . My first was as Operations Resource Management. My second AFSC was a Superintendent of Military Personnel Programs and my current one is a special duty identifier as a Group Career Assistance Advisor."

Holding three different career codes meant that Sergeant Morrison worked in different sections of the Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station and gained a broad knowledge of the day to day operations of the 914th Airlift Wing as well as the Air Force as a whole.

Sergeant Morrison has held many jobs from being Commanders Secretary to a Service call specialist for the 914th Civil Engineering Squadron to working in the 328th Airlift Squadron as the Operations Resource Management specialist as well as the superintendent.

She also worked a plethora of positions in the 914th Mission Personnel flight including Personnel Utilization Technician, Quality Force Technician to supervisory position such as Chief Career Enhancement, Wing Career Advisor and Family Support Director, Operations Resource Management Superintendent, the Chief Personnel Relocations and her current position as the Human Relations Specialist.

"She knows every aspect of the base and how the different sections interact with each other...she is truly dedicated to this installation," said 914th Airlift Wing Civilian Personnel Officer Ms. Dawn Harris

When called upon to mobilize Sergeant Morrison deployed in March 2003 - Feb 2004 with the 328th Airlift Squadron as Operation Resource Management Superintendent. She was stationed in Tabuk, Saudi Arabia; Seeb Air Force Base, Oman; Al Jaber, Kuwait and Tallil, Iraq.

Not only does Sergeant Morrison work on base and in the deployed area of operation, she worked for the Food and Drug Administration; She kept the ROTC cadets in line at Niagara University and she also owned and operated a health club for several years.

"Jeannie's work ethic is amazing;" said Ms. Harris. "She always goes the extra mile.

While not working, Sergeant Morrison keeps the "fit to fight mentality" by weight training and running. She also participates in the Ride for Roswell, Polar Bear Swim for Sight, and Diabetes Ride for the Cure. She is also an avid gardener and landscaper.

Not only has Sergeant Morrison developed and honed her professional and military skills throughout her years here, at the Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station, she has developed a close bond with her fellow Airmen who wear the uniform alongside her.

"My time as a member of the 914th has been wonderful. I've met so many wonderful people and have made so many friends. It's like having a second family, people who are there for you in good times and in bad."

Sergeant Morrison is very happy with her choice to cross into the blue more than 20 years ago. Her time with the unit her different experiences and skills set have made her one of Niagara's Women of Distinction.

"She is absolutely a role model not only for female servicemembers, but I believe that female servicemembers can learn a great deal from Jeannie."
