The sun setting brings to a conclusion the end of the first Unit Training Assembly (UTA) of the year for the 914th Airlift Wing. UTA's, also called "drill weekends," are usually two eight-hour days one weekend each month. Reservists arepaid the equivalent of four days basic salary for this weekend of inactive-duty training.

The minimum annual participation requirement for Reservists also generally includes at least 14 days of active duty for training. Depending on the needs of the Air Force, "annual tour" can be split or can be performed in a single two-week period. Members fully proficient in their career field often perform annual tour overseas in support of real-world missions.

Most Reservists also take advantage of the opportunity to do additional service. Somewhere in the world, any time of the day or night, there are Reservists from the 914th Air Wing on duty, working to keep America safe and free.
