Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station --  Former U.S. Astronaut U.S. Navy 1st Capt. Heidemarie M. Stefanyshyn-Piper visits the Buffalo Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS). During her visit 1st Capt. Stefanyshyn-Piper administered the Oath of Enlistment at the Buffalo MEPS located on the Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station. Among those being sworn in was her son Michael Piper who on completion of Navy Boot Camp will train in explosive ordnance disposal.
Capt. Stefanyshyn-Piper a veteran of two space flights, STS-115 in 2006, and STS-126 in 2008, has logged over 27 days in space, and 33 hours and 42 minutes of EVA in 5 space walks. Capt. Stefanyshyn-Piper retired from NASA in July 2009 to return to the U.S. Navy at the Naval Sea Systems Command in Washington D.C.
