If each American replaced just one light bulb with 1 Compact Fluorescent Light we would save enough energy to light more than 3 Million Homes for a year, save $600 Million In annual energy cost, and prevent greenhouse gases equivalent to the emissions of more than 800,000 Cars. Are YOU conserving? Things you can do to save energy: -- Get in the habit of turning off lights when leaving a room. -- Turn off computer monitors, printers, copiers and fax machines at night and on weekends. -- Make sure air conditioning and heating supply and return vents are not obstructed. -- Replace incandescent light bulbs with compact fluorescent bulbs. -- Turn off personal computers, televisions, stereos and other electronic devices when away. -- Repair water leaks. -- Take the stairs whenever possible. -- Air Seal and Insulate. -- Wash and dry full loads of laundry. -- Programmable Thermostats Pentagon will kick off energy awareness week," Oct. 12 and 15, with the theme Empowering Defense through Energy Security. Factoid: The Air Force uses 2.5 billion gallons of fuel each year - equivalent to the fuel usage of one major airline.
