Niagara Reservist receives AFRC Medical ART NCO of the Year

NIAGARA FALLS AIR RESERVE STATION, NY --  Meet Technical Sgt. Rebecca Hucknall. The AFRC Medical Air Reserve Technician NCO of 2009 . Hucknall worked as a Health Services Management Air Reserve Technician for the 914th Aero Patient Staging Squadron (ASTS) here at Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station, New York.
Currently she works as a civilian in drug testing and in her reserve capacity as a military drug tester and health service management.
Her former position handled all of the administrative work for the squadron as well as some on the medical side of the house. "I like to call it human resources for ASTS. That's kind of what my job wrapped up into" said Hucknall. Considered as the "go to person" for TriCare & line of duty injuries handled at the 914th Airlift Wing which kept her busy the past year.
"TriCare isn't always easy especially when you've never had it before. I would deal with pre authorization forms so the member could receive medical treatment and not have to worry about the medical bills. I also took care of the billing side of the house for that," explained Hucknall.
Her other duties included briefing deploying members about TriCare so they and their families would fully understand what they were eligible for and assisting them with enrollment.
"I like to help out everyone in the unit. Reservists aren't here every day so they don't see everything that I see to gain the knowledge on every aspect we have in this unit. I like to give them that extra bit of knowledge, "said Ms. Hucknall.
Even though she is now in a different position and in a different capacity she likes the fact that she still works for the same unit.
Hucknall is currently working towards her commission as a Medical Service Corps Officer as soon as she finishes her bachelor's degree expected April of 2011.
