William Stowe a 914th Airlift Wing fitness monitor uses powerpoint to show proper pushup techique during a Unit Fitness Monitor training session. The 914th is preparing for next month when they will conduct their first mass fitness test under the new Air Force standards which came into effect in July of 2010. Highlights of this new program include twice a year testing, minimum requirements in all categories (push-ups, sit-ups, 1.5 mile run, abdominal circumference measurement), and rewards for outstanding performers. Changes were made to the existing fitness testing to promote more consistency across the Air Force and instill a culture of fitness for our members. Major Maria McElroy 914th Airlift Wing Fitness Program Manager can't emphasize enough "Fit to fight, not just today, but for tomorrow. Fit to fight, it's a way of life. Fit to fight, so that you may live fit to fight, it's every airman's responsibility."
