914th Airlift Wing Security Forces honor war dead

During the Memorial Day weekend instead of grilling hotdogs and burgers members of the 914th Security Forces Technical Sgt. Robert Starr, Staff Sgts. Lynn Magistrale and Dennis Szablewski woke up early to place American flags on the graves of men and women who died while serving the United States and where interned at Forest Lawn Cemetery. 914th Airlift Wing Catholic Chaplain Captain James Bastian opened the ceremony with the playing of colors and the invocation. During the morning thousands of flags where placed next to graves by military members, retired members, scouting troops and civilians wishing to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
Veterans Day was first observed at the eleventh hour, of the eleventh day, of the eleventh month in 1919 to commemorate the Armistice Agreement ending WWI, the supposed war to end all wars. Men and women still continue to risk their lives and fight for our freedom daily their unyielding bravery sacrifice and dedication to our nation is not forgotten.
