Joseph McKee 914th Airlift Wing PA NIAGARA FALLS AIR RESERVE STATION, N.Y. -- All are invited to donate $1.00 to wear denim for the day On Tuesday, April 13th; proceeds will go to the local rape crisis center in reconiztion of Sexual Assault Awarreness Month (SAAM) In 1998, an Italian Supreme Court decision overturned a rape conviction because the victim wore jeans, reasoning she must have helped her attacker remove them. People all over the world were outraged. Wearing jeans became an international symbol of protest against erroneous and destructive attitudes about sexual assault. Roberts Jr. Training Center from 12:00-2:00 for the viewing and facilitated discussion of the documentary Searching for Angela Shelton In the uplifting and multiple award-winning documentary, filmmaker Angela Shelton drives around the United States surveying other Angela Sheltons. She discovers that 24 out of the 40 Angela Sheltons she speaks to are survivors of rape, childhood sexual abuse and/or domestic violence. Angela Shelton's survey of women becomes a journey of self-discovery during which she decides to finally confront her own past and her abusive father - on Father's Day. The Angela Sheltons complete the journey by teaching the filmmaker about healing, faith and the power of the human spirit, no matter what your name is.
