New York State Lt. Governor Kathy Hochul visited the base and its personnel on Thursday, Dec. 31, 2015.

The purpose of her visit was to meet with members of the base, thank them for their service and wish them a Happy New Year.  She was also interested in seeing the progress to base facilities and discuss future improvements. Her last visit here came when she was in Congress in 2012.

"I wanted to thank the military members for answering the call to service--it's something the governor and I do not take for granted, and we're very proud of the work that gets done here," said Hochul. "In addition, I wanted to see, firsthand, some of the rapidly changing operational opportunities that we have here, and to learn the role that the Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station will have on the front lines in the global war on terror."

Along with Hochul, several members of NFARS leadership team accompanied her on a short tour of the installation and engage with her on the future of the base and its mission. Col. Robert Kilgore, 107th Air Wing Commander, Col. Alan Teauseau, 914th Mission Support Group Commander and John Cooper, Niagara Military Affairs Council spoke with Hochul about developments to buildings and showcased the hard working men and women of NFARS.

"I think the most enjoyable part of the tour for her, as it always is for me, was the face time with the Airmen," said Teauseau.

Hochul met with dozens of members of the 914th Airlift Wing and expressed her gratitude for their service. Stops on the tour included the base fire station to meet with fire and emergency services personnel, Hangar 850 to talk to maintainers and Security Forces to spend a few minutes with Defenders before they leave for an upcoming deployment.

"It was a great visit," said Hochul.  "I'm extremely impressed, as always, to see how the base is constantly adapting and changing facilities not only to meet current military needs, but to also stay poised to meet future missions."
