Heartfelt Thanks Served Up by Commanders for Thanksgiving Meal

NIAGARA FALLS AIR RESERVE STATION, N.Y. --  Airman celebrated the upcoming holiday with a spectacular meal served by leadership of the 914th Airlift Wing at the Falcon Club Café, here on Nov. 7, 2015.

Over 500 airmen enjoyed the Thanksgiving themed meal of turkey, ham, stuffing, gravy and sides as they were served by a variety of commanders that worked in a rotation to serve the entire 914th AW.

"I'm very appreciated to have the chance to serve the meals and express my appreciation for all the hard work they do day in and day out," said Col. Stephen Parker, commander, 914 AW. "Not only in their civilian job but here as a reservist as well."

The meal had an additional importance for Parker as he moves on to another assignment and served this meal as a final way to say goodbye to those under his command whom he considers family.

"All holiday meals have an important significance because, to me, it means family," said Parker. "I look at the 914th Airlift Wing as one large family and we're here having a big happy holiday meal together."

According to Denise Yates, Kitchen Supervisor, 914th Force Support Squadron, the meal was prepared by civilian and reservists in a joint effort to bring a little extra cheer to the airmen with the holidays right around the corner.

"This meal is being served to help make the Airmen's holidays wonderful, filing and comfortable," said Yates, who has been working on the base for 18 years. "Serving a holiday meal brings back wonderful memories and is close to my heart."
