Local children recognized for assisting veterans

NIAGARA FALLS AIR RESERVE STATION, N.Y. -- Children from St. Mary's School, Lockport, N.Y. were recognized here, for their work on a school project which included a food drive and creating to toiletry care-packages for homeless and disabled Western NY veterans.

Col. Walter Gordon, 914th Airlift Wing commander handed out the commander's coins to the students and Airmen of the 914th Security Forces gave a weapons demonstration and handed out Air Force promotional items to the children, thanking them for their efforts to improve the lives of veterans.

In addition to Wing recognition, Special Agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation Buffalo Division presented the group with a note excusing their tardiness to school due to their assistance to the FBI. The agents also presented each child with a "Pledge of Allegiance Patch" and a copy of the U.S. Constitution that is provided to all new FBI employees in recognition of their genuine efforts in improving their community and recognizing the struggle of homeless and disabled veterans.
