Lt. Robert Sullivan, Wilmorite Security, Rochester, N.Y., was presented with the ESGR (Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve) Patriot award by Staff Sgt. Jake Giovati, a civilian employee of his and an Emergency Management Specialist with the 914th Civil Engineer Squadron on August 7, 2016 at the Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station, N.Y.

Staff Sgt. Giovati was completing more than 30 days of military orders when he submitted his civilian employer, Lt. Robert Sullivan, for the award, which recognizes the civilian employers of Guard and Reserve members who go above and beyond to accommodate employees so they can fulfill their military obligations.

Giovati worked for Lt. Sullivan prior to joining the Air Force, 6 years ago. When he got out of Active Duty, Lt. Sullivan made a part-time position available for him. When he was in technical training, Giovati was offered a full-time position as a supervisor at Wilmorite Security.

“It was a very big bump to go straight from part time to a full time supervisory role there. It was very outside the norm and I know it’s specifically because he values my military experience so much,” said Giovati, of his promotion.

Lt. Sullivan voiced his appreciation and stated that as an employer, he’s very supportive of good employees like Giovati, and will encourage them to succeed both on the job and in their military careers.
