Sunday, September 11, 2016 marked the 15 year anniversary of the 9/11 attacks on the world Trade Center in New York City and the Pentagon in Washington, DC. Members of the 914th commemorated the event with a ceremony which included the folding of the flag to honor the victims and all those affected by the tragic events of that day in 2001.

During the remembrance ceremony, Col. Patrick Erdman, Commander, 914 Mission Support Group, shared his thoughts. “Some of us now see younger kids coming into the service. Where were they that day? They may not know. It’s our responsibility to make sure they do know.”

Col. Gary Califf, Command Chaplain, Headquarters, Air Force Reserve Command, spoke during a service held at the base chapel, regarding the 9/11 attacks. “It’s not about my story or our story. It’s about how we have lived out these 15 years affected, certainly, by national events, but living in the process of redemption.”

As we continue to serve, we will remember the events of that day and why we’re here.
