NIAGARA FALLS AIR RESERVE STATION, N.Y. -- A Retiree Appreciation Day was held on the installation on Saturday, September 17th, 2016. The event took place at The Heritage Center and included retirees from all branches of the military.
Retiree Appreciation Day included tours of a C-130 Hercules, bus tours, updates on retirement benefits for retirees and spouses, a buffet lunch and a retiree fair.
“For most retirees this event is the only link to their questions,” said Joseph Reele, Retired Activities Office Director. “We want to educate the retirees that attend of what their benefits are, and provide literature and points of contact as well as other information for their families.”
This event drew over 150 retirees and spouses from across the Buffalo-Niagara area. It was an opportunity to thank many Veterans for their service and educate them on programs available. The last Retiree Appreciation Day that took place in the area was more than six years ago.
“The hope is that we can encourage people, especially retirees, to use the base more often as well as inform them on the many valuable services we provide,” said Reele. “The more people use the base, the more valuable it becomes for everyone.”
