Local venue Kansas concert becomes community awareness night

NIAGARA FALLS AIR RESERVE STATION, N.Y. - Air Force Reserve personnel from the 914th Airlift Wing were given the opportunity to raise community awareness of the Reserve program and to express their appreciation to the thousands of local supporters of the military via a free concert venue at Artpark in Lewiston, NY. The rock band Kansas was the featured act and before the concert 914th Airlift Wing commander Col. Reinhard Schmidt spoke to a crowd of more than 15,000 to voice his appreciation for the outstanding support given to the air base by the Western New York community. Staff Sgt. Joel Laureno, 914 AW line recruiter, sang the National Anthem while the Niagara Falls Base Honor Guard presented the colors. A perfectly timed two ship C-130 formation flyover culminated the opening ceremony. (U.S. Air Force photo / Airman 1st Class Andrew Caya)
