Five 914th Security Forces Citizen Airmen deployed to RAF (Royal Air Force) Lakenheath in England from July 18-August 20, 2017 to backfill for Active Duty Airmen who had deployed downrange. Another three SFS Airmen deployed to RAF Fairford (also in England) to aid in supporting their mission.

The Airmen at Lakenheath were tasked with working ECPs (Entry Control Points) and performing perimeter and RAMs (Random Act of terrorism Measures) while the team deployed to Fairford worked security for the Lockheed U-2 aircraft.

The 914th SFS regularly deploys members where they’re needed, whether it’s stateside, downrange or anywhere else in the world. Citizen Airmen meet challenges effectively and professionally by applying their training, knowledge and skills in different situations.

“Our defenders were able to apply their base defense skills in a new and challenging operating environment, while also being able to spend valuable off duty time traveling around and learning about the United Kingdom, one of our most valued, relevant, and important strategic defense partners,” said Captain Brian Rhoney, Operations Officer, 914th Security Forces Squadron.

The Citizen Airmen of the 914th SFS will continue to carry out their duties with excellence as more opportunities arise in the future.
