NIAGARA FALLS AIR RESERVE STATION, N.Y. -- 914th Air Refueling Wing commander, Col. Mark Larson, accepted the 2018 "Celia O'Brien Excellence in Service Award" which was awarded to the 914th at the Buffalo Stand Down event in Buffalo, N.Y. June 19, 2019.
The award recognizes the volunteer efforts of members from 914 Aeromedical Staging Squadron, 30th Aerial Port Squadron, 914th Force Support Squadron, 914th Civil Engineering Squadron, and 914th Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron during last year's event.
The Stand Down provides resilient outreach support to hundreds of local veterans each year and is an opportunity for the 914th to partner with the community, promoting esprit de corps within the wing, while also building a relationship with Western New York veterans.
This year the 914th helped build five tents which held veterinary services and bike repairs for over 1,300 veterans.
