Retired U.S. Air Force Col. James Regenor, CEO of VeriTX, was presented the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve's Patriot Award at Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station, New York, on Friday, Dec. 2, 2022. The award is given to individual employers who show exemplary support for their reserve and guard citizen warriors and their families.

Why it matters: The Air Force Reserve Command has over 82,000 reserve citizen airmen serving across the globe. It's imperative those reservists remain ready at a moment's notice in an era of strategic competition. The support and often sacrifices their civilian employers is cornerstone to AFRC's mission success.

  • --The award was presented by Col. Lara Morrison, 914th Air Refueling Wing commander, who invited Regenor and other members of his staff to speak at a commander's drill weekend briefing.
  •
  • --Regenor was nominated by one of his employees, Maj. Kristin Horan, 30th Aerial Port Squadron commander, who says she appreciates Regenor's perspective as a former commander and allows her the time away in her civilian capacity to give her time to command her squadron effectively. "His support, guidance and mentorship in both business and the Air Force are second to none," said Horan. "We are lucky to have employers like him in our civilian and military workforce partnership."
  •
  • --Joseph Saeli, a representative for New York's ESGR, also attended to support the award presentation and to discuss how ESGR provides support to NFARS's citizen warriors.
